I have it on tape and I just don't ever put it in my tape deck. I
remember it being of good quality and having some interesting stuff, but
I find it random. Considering that Great Dane went out of business a
while ago it is probably a good buy. At the very least you could trade
it or sell it later.

The songs are from many different souces so the sound quality varies, but it is generally excellent and never less than good. Great Dane has gone out of business now so there are not many copies about. Get it while you can. All the best Matthew _________________________________ Matthew Zuckerman

This is a good set for those who want a variety of unreleased recordings spanning across Bob's career so they can decide which of Bob's sounds or CDs to pursue next. Generally after obtaining the underlying CDs, you will choose to listen to the fuller concerts instead of the selections. You Don't Know Me contains the following tracks: (I Heard That) Lonesome Whistle 1/13/62 Fixin' To Die 1/13/62 Smokestack Lightnin' 1/13/62 Hard Travellin' 1/13/62 The Death Of Emmett Till 1/13/62 Standing On The Highway 1/13/62 Roll on John 1/13/62 Stealin', Stealin' 1/13/62 (It Makes) A Long Time Man Feel Bad 1/13/62 Baby Please Don't Go 1/13/62 Hard Times In New York Town 1/13/62 Whatcha Gonna Do 12/6/62 Ramblin' On Down Through The World 4/12/63 You've Been Hiding Too Long 4/12/63 Maggie's Farm 7/25/65 Fourth Time Around 5/20/66 Like a Rolling Stone 5/17/66 Mama, You Been On My Mind 1/6/74 The Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll 1/6/74 Nobody 'Cept You 1/6/74 It Ain't Me, Babe 11/21/75 You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go 5/16/76 I Pity The Poor Immigrant 5/16/76 Blowin' In The Wind 5/16/76 The Man In Me 7/6/78 Mr. Tambourine Man 10/29/78 Am I Your Stepchild ? 10/29/78 Ain't No Man Righteous, No Not One 11/16/79 Pressing On 11/16/79 Ain't Gonna Go To Hell 4/20/80 Let's Keep It Between Us 12/3/80 Mary from The Wild Moor 12/3/80 Simple Twist Of Fate 11/12/81 Solid Rock 11/12/81 A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall 6/28/84 Enough Is Enough 6/28/84 Every Grain Of Sand 6/28/84 I Shall Be Released 1/20/86 Just Like A Woman 2/24/86 That Lucky Old Sun 2/24/86 House Of The Risin' Sun 7/17/86 Band Of The Hand 7/17/86 We had It All 7/17/86 The Times They Are A-Changin' 7/21/86 Soon 3/11/87 All Along The Watchtower 7/4/87 Masters Of War 3/7/88 San Francisco Bay Blues 12/4/88 Pretty Boy Floyd 12/4/88 With God On Our Side 12/4/88 I believe In You 7/9/90 Joey 11/12/90 Gotta Serve Somebody 11/12/90 Masters Of War 2/20/91 Trail Of The Buffalo 11/5/91 I'm a rovin' Gambler 11/6/91 You Don't Know Me 11/5/91 Across The Borderline 11/2/91 Most Of The Time 5/9/92 EDLIS Boot Advisory Agent

The rest is standard bootleg concert quality (nothing particularly bad). The version of Simple Twist of Fate is by far the best I've heard. There are also many rarities (hence the title). I don't know if it's worth buying, but it's definitley worth trading for :) Timothy Ellmore was kind enough to send me the info. below. - Dave Fanning _____________________________________________________________________________ As for "You Don't Know Me" here's some more information: Disc 1 Lonesome Whistle NY 3/11/62 Fixin' to Die NY 3/11/62 Smokestack Lightening NY 3/11/62 Hard Travellin NY 3/11/62 (3/11/62 is entire Cynthia Emmett Till NY 3/11/62 Gooding interview) Standing on the Highway NY 3/11/62 Roll on John NY 3/11/62 Stealin' NY 3/11/62 Makes a Long Time Make a Man Feel Bad NY 3/11/62 Baby Please Don't Go NY 3/11/62 Hard Times in NY Town NY 3/11/62 Whatcha Gonna Do NY 4/12/63 Ramblin Down Through the World NY 4/12/63 You Been Hidin' Too Long NY 4/12/63 (never recorded or released Disc 2 Maggie's Farm Newport 7/25/65 (speed corrected) 4th Time Around Edinburgh 5/20/66 Rolling Stone Manchester 5/17/66 ("Judas" concert) Mama You Been on My Mind Philadelphia 1/6/74 Hattie Carroll Philadelphia 1/6/74 Nobody Cept You Philadelphia 1/6/74 (only live perf I think) It Ain't Me Babe Boston 11/21/75 You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go Fort Worth 5/16/76 I Pity the Poor Immigrant Fort Worth 5/16/76 Blowin in the Wind Fort Worth 5/16/76 The Man in Me Paris 7/6/78 (significant lyric changes) Mr Tambourine Man St Louis 10/29/78 Am I Not Your Stepchild St Louis 10/29/78 (never recorded or released) Ain't No Man Righteous San Fran 11/16/79 (very rare perf) Pressin On San Fran 11/16/79 Disc 3 Ain't Gonna Go to Hell Toronto 4/20/80 (from planned Solid Rock LP) Let's Keep Between Us Portland 12/3/80 (never recorded or released) Mary From the Wild Moor Portland 12/3/80 (trad.) Most sound quality is good to very good to excellent. Most selections are from rare soundboard recordings. I have different source tapes for some recordings in which instrumentation and voice quality differ.

The selections are wonderful and give a very good idea of the live performances of Dylan. Five star package all the way-definately get it. Keith

Splendid version of Hank Williams' "Lonesome Whistle" and Guthrie's "Hard Travelin'," among others. Also, silly banter between Dylan and the radio host. He sounds like such a little kid. The rest is hit and miss, but does have some cool stuff. There's "Maggie's Farm," from Newport, Nicholson's speech from the Grammies, a 1991 version of "Trail of the Buffalo" and a most of Dylan's set from the 1988 Bridge Benefit in Oakland. I was fortunate enough to be at that concert, and the version of "San Francisco Bay Blues" was among the best things Dylan's ever sung. Lotsa fun. Sound quality on the first disc is first rate, pretty hit-and-miss on the rest. But it's almost worth it for the first disc (though I'm sure it's available elsewhere). mique
