: with Van by the Big Muddy - he keeps harking back to 'old Bobby Dylan'
: when he first met him in the 60's, making Van a bit grumpy as they're

: 'I saw you from a foreign window,

: squinting heavily without shades. A very 'naked' performance. Was it 1989?

EDLIS badly needs information on the Louisiana, Denmark and Ronnie Scott's
dates and places for the first two please???

Ronnie Scott's is still going strong, we went on there the other night
after Ravi Shankar's 75th Birthday thing, and a meal. London is a mighty
busy and lively place 'til 04:00 in the morning, easy to forget that
as you grow old and gray... [meaning me, Ravi Shankar is neither old,
nor gray :-)]

Tracks 1-9 were broadcast by BBC2 TV 16 March 1991 in the
programme "One Irish Rover - Van Morrison in performance".

io20816@maine.maine.edu (Kevin Foss):
"This [tracks 1-9] is probably just a dub of part of the Van
Morrison TV special "One Irish Rover" -- originally broadcast on
BBC 2's Arena, replayed a couple of years ago on A&E in the
states. Anyways, Dylan and Van appear in the video and do three
songs, Crazy Love (1), Foreign Window (6), and One Irish Rover
(7). Van plays guitar and sings on all tracks, Dylan plays guitar
and sings on Crazy Love and Irish Rover, on Foreign Window he
plays harp. Dylan, to be bluntly honest, is pathetic on this
recording. He is obviously unfamiliar with the words, and looks
like he was dragged out of bed. On a CD cut, you might be hard-
pressed to even realize Dylan is on some of the tracks, he is so
apathetic when singing! His musicianship isn't too bad though...
However, it might be worth it to get the video version so you can
have Van musing about the implications as far as Foreign Window
being about Bob [and John Lee Hooker reminiscing very briefly
about Gerde's Folk City and Bob Dylan in New York City]. Also the
scenery is great, in the songs involving Dylan you see Van on the
left and Bob to the right with the Acropolis in the distance
between the two.

Oh, and the reason for pinning this CD with One Irish Rover is of
course that John Lee Hooker is the other featured legend that
plays with Van in the video."

Watching the video, it is more as if Bob Dylan is watching Van
Morrison perform, and is doodling along a little while doing so,
thinking no one would ever bother to use this. Dylan is wearing
his "beginner learning some songs from an experienced musician"
mask...

If you want Dylan but not Van Morrison then all the Dylan
performances are found on Alias : The Sideman Story Vol. 3 [T-
354].

Oh yes, I have. It's great. It's on a boot called "Van Morrison meets Bob Dylan and John Lee Hooker" (Living Legend Records/Multi Coloured Music). JLAW was recorded in 1971. I definitely *love* the way Van sings that line "... I can't remain in here / ain't it clear / that I just can't fit / i believe i believe i believe i believe i believe i believe i believe i believe i believe it's time for us to quit..." ------------------------------------------ Where the rivers freeze and summer ends... I've never heard of this album, which is almost certainly a bootleg. However, a strong possibility is that these are the 3 tracks from the BBC TV Arena programme on Van Morrison called One Irish Rover. The songs were One Irish Rover, Foreign Window and Crazy Love. Van and Bob were filmed on the top of the Acropolis in Athens on 27 June, 1989, although the programme was not broadcast until 1991. =========================== To which I respond: ...this is indeed a bootleg and is now impossible to find... full details on it can be found on the Van Morrison Home Page at: http://www.harbour.sfu.ca/~hayward/van/discography/meetsbob.html
