REPOST: i didn't get any replies first time - make me an offer!
------
i'm selling my "Solid Rock" double CD soundboard from 20-apr-1980 Toronto
(set list below)
it's from Wanted Man Music (WMM 005/006) and is excellent quality and
an excellent show (not enough is known about that period - its amazing
how great it is compared to the live at budokan that was less than a year
later)
if you want to check out a sound sample (~2.2 MB) snarf it from:
ftp://eosdev2.gsfc.nasa.gov/pub/slowhand/sounds/i_believe_in_you.au
this is .au format and thus is only 8bit mono, so the great dynamics are
lost, but you get the picture at least.
i have an AIFF format (16-bit stereo) clip too, but its 50MB if you
really want to hear how it sounds.
it has one small glitch in the first five seconds of one song (the cd
does a quick loop and then continues) but that is probably on all of
them but wouldn't swear it (since i've never seen another copy)
i'm selling it so i can buy the 30-jan-74 sbd cd of dylan/band from the
Madison Square Garden
i paid $45 for it, make an offer (nothing over that amount, if i get
multiple people saying they'll pay full price i will randomly pick
one out of a hat) -- please respond by email.
bob was great at both RFK shows this weekend - i got up fairly close for
the Sunday show - great stuff!

It is a 2cd edition "The born again music". It has the full April 20, 1980 concert
(with the girl singers contributions too!) on it - in excellent quality - taken from
a soundboard tape. I have it in my collection at home, but for a songlist please see
in the books by Krogsgaard or Dundas.
Hope this helps.

Wanted Man's "Solid Rock" was the complete April 20th 1980 show, with
Covenant Woman and When You Gonna Wake Up from the 19th added. For those
who don't own this double CD, you are missing something. Dylan has these
shows recorded and tried to have Columbia release a live album, but the
company said no. Any comments, Craig? %>(

No, it is much bigger. The unreleased CBS album entitled
Solid Rock contains only seven songs, all from April
1980. Anyone have the precise details to hand?
Both your nights were filmed at Bob Dylan's request.
Some seriously long song introductions might have
made a double album necessary? :-)
I gather Rompin' Ronnie Hawkins gave Bob Dylan the full
benefit of his wisdom with regard to "black chicks, carrying
a Bible, and praising the Lord!" Now that would have been some
discussion to have witnessed, yes indeedy. Was anyone here
there? Do tell. ;-)
What did rec.music.dylan readers think of Bob Dylan's Why'd
They Talk About Me in Montreal two days later, anyone see that?
And I Will Sing (Glory To God)? Montreal Theatre, St-Denis.
Anyone recall the Syracuse Area Landmark Theatre show where he preaches
that Bruce Springsteen should take Jesus Christ as his Saviour?

As far as I know, Solid Rock is now very hard, if not impossible, to find.
As for Farewell Bloomfield, I believe it only really circulated in Japan
(where it originated) (as a CD -- I know the concert was in San Francisco),
and it's pretty scarce (and expensive) here too.

The songs not sung by Bob on this CD are:
If I've Got My Ticket Lord
Hold On
The Rainbow Sign
Show me the way Lord
Freedom at the Wall
This Train is Bound for Glory
Stranger in the City
Walk Around Heaven All Day
They are conveniently located at the beginning of each CD for easy skipping.

Find the April 20, 1980 Toronto show on 2CDs:
Solid Rock - excellent recording quality of just Bob's songs
The Born Again Music - reported to be not quiet as good of recording quality
but contains the other artists performances preceding (6 songs) and
interspersed (2 songs) within Bob's performance.
Bob's songs are:
Gotta Serve Somebody
I Believe In You
When He Returns
Ain't Gonna Go To Hell
Cover Down/Break Through
Man Gave Names To All The Animals
Precious Angel
Slow Train
Do Right To Me Baby
Solid Rock
Saving Grace
Saved
What Can I Do For You ?
In The Garden
Are You Ready ?
Pressing On
On Solid Rock instead of the 4/20/80 version of Gotta Serve Somebody you are
reported to instead get:
Gotta Serve Somebody 4/19/80
Covenant Woman 4/19/80
When You Gonna Wake Up ? 4/19/80

I highly recommend "The Born Again Music." It's a soundboard recording
of the complete Massey Hall show in Toronto on 20 April 1980. It even
includes the five or six songs performed by Dylan's gospel band. The
total running time for the two discs is 136 minutes. My favorite
tracks are "Cover Down/Breakthrough" and a great early version of "In
the Garden."
Keep on keepin' on,
Bob

I agree that this is a great set. The sound quality is excellent, and
Dylan's performance is superb, especially on "What Can I Do For You?" and
"Saving Grace."

"The Born Again Music" is the complete soundboard of 4/20/80 and includes
8 other tracks without Bob singing. "Solid Rock" contains only songs with
Bob on vocal and substitues a couple of songs from the previous night.
Sound quality has been reported to be a little better n "Solid Rock"
although both are excellent.
