is excellent. Slightly better than the familiar Gaslight Tapes CD.

The rest of the Second Gaslight Tape is on Vol. I of Rare Live Perfances of

The sound quality of the First Gaslight Tape and Finjan Club is very good.
Much cleaner than the tapes I have heard. (Have either of these appeared
previously on CD?) For more of The Finjan Club tape, see Rare Live
Performances in the Sixties, vol. III.

1. Rocks and Gravels [sic] [5] (4:41)

8. Blowin' in the Wind [4] (4:16)
(1-8) Finjan Club, Quebec, July 2, 1962. [022]
Taken together with the last two tracks of Rare Live Perfomances of the
Sixties, this is nearly the complete Finjan Club tape. Does not include
the short fragment of Blue Yodel No. 8 with which the circulating tape
concludes. Most of the between songs guitar tuning, strumming, and talking
has also been edited out -- including the introduction to Blowin' in the
Wind: "This is called 'How Many Roads Must A Man Walk Down?'" -- as well as
the introduction to Let Me Die in My Footsteps: "I'm gonna sing a couple of
dirty songs now." Overall sound quality is very good.
General Comment: The three performances on these three cds are familiar to
collectors and have long circulated on tape, vinyl, and cd (?). The only
thing to recommend these discs is their generally superior sound and their
ridiculously low price. (15 DM for the set of three)

Get these right away! What you have here are excellent sound quality
early '60s live performances from the Gaslight & Finjan Club. If they
sound anything like the usual tapes and CDs in circulation, these
should sound just fine.
Volume I and Volume II, tracks 1-4 are from the Gaslight Cafe 10/62.
Volume II, tracks 5-10 are from the Gaslight Cafe 9/6/61
Volume II, tracks 11 & 12 and all of Volume III are from Finjan Club
7/2/62.

these perfromances are from the Gaslight late '62, the Gaslight 6th Sep.
'61, and the Finjan Club, Montreal 2nd July '62. All are in excellent
quality except they are not continuous recordings i.e. no chat or
audience applause between songs.
