Has anyone any opinions on whether or not the 3 versions of "nobody 'cept
you"currently in circulation,i.e.
1 The Bootleg Series
2 The Genuine Bootleg Series
3 The Genuine Bootleg Series Take 2
are in fact the same take or not?I cant tell any difference, perhaps
someone with better hearing can

I'm glad you bring this up, for this is bothering me too. According to
Clinton Heylin's "The Recording Sessions 1960-1994" (also published as
"Behind Closed Doors") there were made 4 complete takes of "Nobody
'cept you" at the "Planet waves" sessions, one of which has been
released on "The Bootleg Series". One would expect that the 2 tracks
on "The Genuine Bootleg Series" are 2 of the other 3 takes, but I
don't hear no difference either, except for the difference in sound
quality and the starting point (GBS has some stuff at the beginning
which the other 2 CDs omit and GBST2 starts at just a little later
point than BS). Yet Heylin writes:
The version bootlegged on "The Genuine Bootlegged [sic] Series" has
more interplay between Hudson and Robertson and, though it starts
tentatively (perhaps implying a first take), becomes increasingly
intense (the released take sounds sedate by comparison).
Now, does Heylin have a strong imagination or do we have a bad
hearing?

My copy matches Eric's description, except that in stead of a 5 page
booklet (how can a booklet have an odd number of pages?) it has a
sheet, folded thus that it has 6 pages, 4 with the track listing, and
2 with pictures with around them the texts "PROTEST AND FOLK SONGS -
BOB DYLAN - THE GENUINE BOOTLEG SERIES TAKE 2" and "33 1/3 YEARS IN
THE LIFE OF BOB DYLAN - 52 RECOLLECTIONS FROM A SERIES OF DREAMS".
Alan's description matches my copy of the first "The Genuine Bootleg
Series", except that the booklet has not 40, but 8 pages.
