Picked up the CD "Escaping On The Run vol. 2"-Vredenburg,Utrecht 6/21/96(Moonlight Records- ML 9640/41). Here are some thoughts on it. It is nice to hear something on CD from the Spring/Summer 96 Tour. This concert could contain (IMHO) the best preformances in recent years of "Man in The Long Black Coat" & "Just Like Tom Thumbs Blues" that this listener has ever heard. The concert sound quality is great, and preformance is above average. A splendid set which includes one of the better versions of "Boots Of Spanish Leather"(although this is mislabeled on The CD and on back cover as "Girl From The North Country"). A slow, almost Grateful Dead type version of "Positively 4th Street",and a wonderful version of "She Belongs To Me". As an extra bonus you also get to hear Bob chatting back and forth with Lamchop ("Let's hear it for the Chopper.... He's been to more shows than I have"). I do not detect Lambchop anywhere else during the show (but then again, my hearing isn't what it used to be). All in all a great show. Although, some bonus tracks would've been nice, I highily recommend it!!! If you play it loud enough, you can almost see the gold lame pants ;-)
Anyone else have any comments on this?
Anyone have Vol. 1? What's it like?
Does anyone know why this CD costs more than others?

* * *I find "Escaping On The Run Volume 1" - Vredenburg,Utrecht 6/20/96 on Moonlight Records - ML 9638/39 more enjoyable than Volume 2. It was hard to get this one out of the CD player to listen to Volume 2. Both 2CDs are excellent quality audience recordings. Volume 1 contains the first Bob "Shake Sugaree" to make it to CD. These are the first 96 shows to make it to CD. See Deep Beneath the Waves 40 for a review of these CDs. As you can see from the track listings there is the overlap of song titles between shows ( "!" indicates the song is unique to this 2 day run).

Not much discussion of Bob's Utrecht album?
Is the Lambchop dialogue on it? Clear to hear?
Those who want to see Lambchop can get an id shot at

and then watch the Prince's Trust to see him move too!
Oooops, sloppy cut and paste from the web search, it does not look right does it? Better try:

EDLIS Research Labs, Inc. have been working through the nights to bring you the Lambchop transcription. Anyone care to improve on this? After She Belongs To Me (26) ends there is a gap of 1:50, followed by Bob Dylan saying, "Thank you. Thanks everybody..... Umm.. this here gentleman playing the guitar from Memphis... [someone in the crowd yells, "J.J. Jackson"] That's right man, you got it. That's his name. Alright - J.J. Jackson [laughing], alright. J.J.'s my.... [something inaudible]. I'd also like to say hello to our good friend, The Chopper, who's down here. How come you never made it to, uh, Cincinnati? You were suppose to come over there to... supposed to come down to Atlanta - you never showed up there. Pretty weird. On the drums tonight, Winston Watson. Give him a big hand. And on steel guitar, Bucky Baxter, playin' the mandolin too. On bass guitar tonight, Tony Garnier. [applause] Great seein' ya again Chopper [???]. Alright! We've been missin' ya! We've been missin' you the last couple shows." Person in Crowd yells, "DIGNITY!!! DIGNITY!!!" Bob Dylan replies, "That's it. That's it! [laughing] How about giving the Chopper a hand. Hey! [applause] He's seen more shows than me... He's seen me play more times than me...."
