performers. Mono soundboard, rough mix without overdubs.
Total playing time: 77:34
This CD contains the complete set of Bob Dylan at "The Last Waltz", the
1976 farewell concert of The Band, so also "Hazel", the one song from
his set that was not included on the official album of this concert.
Beside Dylan's set this CD includes a selection of the songs sung by
other guest vocalists. Note that there exists a unofficial CD set of the
complete concert, "The Complete Last
Waltz"; I haven't heard it, but it is reported to be excellent, so
when you rather have the whole concert instead of a selection, then it's
probably better to get that set.
"Friends & Other Strangers" I own, but I haven't heard the official
"The Last Waltz" album yet, but I assume that the sound quality of
"Friends & Ohter Strangers" is considerably lower. For bootleg
standards, however, it is quite good and very listenable. It's a rough
mix of a mono soundboard and doesn't have the overdubs the official
album is reported to have.
Crazy Joe rated this CD 4 out of 5, meaning excellent.
Eric Schoneveld wrote about it: "Reasonable quality."
